Clean School Program Teachers Workshop

BY ASHNEEL CHAND – FOR was invited to be a part of the Clean School Program Teachers Workshop on June 14 at Sigatoka Town Council. The workshop was a wonderful opportunity to learn about the program, network with teachers from the participating schools, share our sustainability and waste management practices from the resort and have an understanding of what’s currently happening in our Sigatoka community and schools in regards to being more sustainable. The resort was represented by FORs Environment officer Maryanne Shaw and Hygiene Manager, Ashwindra Naidu.

OKB Canoe Racing Team Places 2nd at Na Holo Kai

BY RAY GLAUSER – On Saturday, July 6, the OUTRIGGER Kāʻanapali Beach Resort Canoe Sailing Team raced in the 84-mile “Na Holo Kai” race from Haleiwa, Oahu to Nawiliwili Harbor, Kauai. We had a great crew and took second place in 9 hours, 7 minutes.

We launched right as a canoe regatta was taking place on the beach and had a nice send off from the paddling ‘ohana. Our next and final race of the season is this Sunday, July 28, from Kalapaki Beach to Waimea on the south shore of Kauai.

The current Ocean Paddler TV show playing on Spectrum OC-16 (Episode 196) features our first two races. You can also watch it on demand from their website. We are proud to represent OUTRIGGER Kāʻanapali Beach Resort.

OURTIGGER Maldives Maafushivaru Resort’s Commitment to Community & Sports

BY AYAASHA ISHAAQ – We are delighted to share that we have sponsored Dhangethi Volley Team in the 2024 Adh. Atoll Volley tournament.

In the dynamic world of sports and community engagement, strategic sponsorships play a pivotal role in not only supporting events but also in enhancing the overall experience for participants and spectators alike. One such notable instance is the partnership between MAM and Dhangethi Council in the Adh. Atoll Volley tournament, where our sponsorship has significantly influenced the tournament’s success and the island’s visibility on an Atoll stage.

Beyond mere financial backing, we aimed to foster a deeper connection with the local community and leverage the tournament as a platform to showcase their values and contributions. The sponsorship provided by MAM enabled Dhangethi Council to upgrade its sports jersey and purchase quality volleyballs and other items needed for the tournament, ensuring all the players were provided with all the items needed. This investment left a legacy for future sporting events. Beyond the tournament itself, MAM actively engaged with the local community through outreach programs and youth development initiatives. These efforts not only enriched the tournament experience but also left a positive impact on Dhangethi by fostering a sense of pride and unity among its residents.

In conclusion, this collaboration underscores the potential of strategic partnerships to drive positive change and inspire future generations through the power of sports and community involvement. As it serves as a model for how businesses can effectively leverage sponsorships to make a meaningful impact on both local communities.
