OUTRIGGER Fiji Beach Resort (FOR)
Child Protection and Training
BY ASHNEEL CHAND — In the child-minding industry, we have a duty to protect children from any form of danger or abuse, including taking appropriate action in the case of complaints or suspicion. Recently, 20 hosts from the Meimei Nanny Service and Kids Club departments underwent training on Child Protection which was facilitated by Mohenesh Singh, a lecturer from Fiji National University.
Child Protection and Policy is crucial for safeguarding the well-being of our guests’ children under our care. This policy sets clear guidelines and procedures for hosts to follow, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. It also establishes trust with parents and reassures them that their children are in the best and most capable hands of our professional Meimei Nanny and Kids Club hosts.
OUTRIGGER MALDIVES MAAFUSHIVARU RESORT (MAM)
Cybersecurity Awareness Training
BY URMILA SHRESTHA — Cybersecurity Awareness Training helps our MAM hosts identify and avoid cyber threats in our workplace. It’s a component of effective cybersecurity to stop human errors and insider threats from causing data breaches.
Job Coach Training — Train-the-Trainer
BY URMILA SHRESTHA — Due to the number of recommendations, we held another round of OUTRIGGER Job Coach Training — Train-the-Trainer in September bringing more certified departmental trainers on the floor to enhance guest service excellence and host career growth.
This program is a valuable addition to our training curriculum. More training will be scheduled in the future as hosts and management have shown great interest in the program.
OUTRIGGER Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel (OBC)
BY JAO GACUSAN — Huge mahalo to all of our hosts who attended the various training conducted recently. The three trainings and one meeting were challenging for 24-hour operations to schedule; however, the team showed up motivated and ready to learn. We thanked all the leaders who took the time to participate and teach our team. This is a quick recap of all the training that happened. Shout out to Jason and Joseph for securing us a facility!
TUESDAY: 4 Keys Training with Pila
Shoutout to Pila Hanson for assisting us in arranging a 4 Keys training refresher for the OBC team! Understanding The 4 Keys is a great way for all of us to create guests for life in The OUTRIGGER Way. The team was able to conduct exercises to understand various ways in which we may assist guests. Being aware of guest perception is always considered in every interaction.
TUESDAY: Inaudible Fire Drill OBC
Back-to-back training for the team and we just keep going! Shoutout to Chris Pino, MJ Palazzotto and Nathan for their guidance in conducting OBC’s first inaudible fire drill and the second fire drill before the year’s end. General Manager Cecilia Hamao conducted an inaudible fire drill to prevent guest disturbance since we have flight crews in-house. This is something new for all of us, but with the guidance of our safety and security team, we were able to successfully execute! Mahalo all!
THURSDAY: OPM Refresher Training
The front services team went over the OUTRIGGER Platinum Membership training with Madeleine Noa, Hannah Corsi and Peter Gorla during the front services department meeting. Shout out to the membership team for giving us in-depth information about the OPM program; this will allow us to provide more information to our guests in the hopes that we build and gain return guests, not only for OBC, but for the entire OUTRIGGER ‘ohana. The training provided us with information on what benefits guests could gain from signing up and all the amazing perks and savings they get from the different amenities that our beachfront resorts are providing.
