FORCares; Takes Kitchen Cooking Community Project to Sigatoka Hospital
BY ASHNEEL CHAND – The Cooking Community Project aims to provide engaging cooking classes and nutritional workshops for patients, staff and the local community.
“Our objectives of the project include demonstrating healthy, easy and affordable recipes that can be recreated at home,” said FOR Executive Chef, Warren Domah. “We hope to encourage improved dietary habits among patients and staff, enhance overall health and well-being, and educate participants with the knowledge and skills to make healthier food choices.”
Dr. Elizabeth Dass, the acting SDMO at Sigatoka Hospital, was grateful for Chef Domah’s caring gestures.
“The healthy plate demonstrations were invaluable in promoting healthier habits in our NCD patients,” said Dass. “Ministry of Health observes National Nutrition Month in August every year so this aligned perfectly with our month’s activities. Also, deepest gratitude for the generous provision of meals for our patients and staff. Arti was saying how graciously you left so many supplies behind for our patients. The staff also thoroughly enjoyed the treat, and this is important for us to uplift team spirit and show appreciation for everyone’s hard work. I can imagine the planning and work that goes into something like this so please accept our sincerest gratitude to you, Navneet and the entire kitchen team for this wonderful initiative. I hope we continue to strengthen this partnership in the future as we plan more ways to make small differences for our patients and community.”
