OUTRIGGER Fiji Beach Resort (FOR)

Occupational Health & Safety Training

BY RAMANU SOLIMOCE – As FOR’s Security & OHS Manager I was fortunate to attend the National Safety Council of Australia (NSCA) Training facilitated by Fiji National University. It included four days of training from July 9-12 and covered the following Chemical & Hazardous Substances, How to Work Safely at Height and all about Confined Space Entry.

It was an exceptional learning experience with the knowledge & vast experience from our Trainer. The program was comprehensive, informative, and interactive. It greatly enhanced my OHS & Safety knowledge and skills in the above-mentioned areas. I greatly appreciated the opportunity to participate in this training program, which not only improved my confidence in OHS, Fire Life Safety & Compliance but also instilled a sense of responsibility to evaluate FOR Procedures and Protocols in order to ensure that we provide a Safe and Healthy Work Environment.

First Responder Training for FOR Hosts

BY ASHNEEL CHAND – Zens Medical Centre Pte Limited is dedicated to offering comprehensive training services to OUTRIGGER Fiji Beach Resort. As part of this commitment, FOR hosts are trained and certified as First Responders. This training is vital due to the critical role individuals can play in emergency situations and the positive impact it can have on work safety and well-being. The two days of training were held at the Reef Ballroom with skills and knowledge shared for potentially saving a life at work and at home. The team had a practical session and was assessed on the day. Different scenarios of accidents were taught from drownings to accidents and falls.

Responsible Service Training

FOR recently hosted an in-house training on the responsible service of alcohol. This comprehensive 2-day training was conducted by Fiji National University’s trainer Ms. Sheileshni Nair, the Head of Training for the Department of Tourism Hospitality & Travel.  The program aims to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge to responsibly serve alcohol, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting a safe environment for guests. Through interactive sessions and practical demonstrations, Ms. Nair guided the resort staff through responsible service practices, ultimately elevating the guest experience and maintaining the resort’s high standards of service.

The 6 Types of Working Genius

BY URMILA SHRESTHA – We are thrilled to announce another wonderful learning opportunity for our team called “The Six Types of Working Genius.” The Working Genius Assessment is a simple and practical productivity tool designed to help us identify the gifts we bring to work.

Everyone has work that brings them joy and energy; and work that while needed, may lead to frustration and burnout.  The Working Genius provides a simple and practical framework for leveraging the strengths of individual hosts and teams, which increases the likelihood of enhanced productivity and professional fulfillment. The custom report provides detailed insights about our areas of Working Genius, Working Competency, and Working Frustration along with an application section that will help us leverage this information in our work, on our team, and in our life.

At MAM, we launched this session with our ExCom and HODs. They have shown great enthusiasm and participation. We have received amazing encouraging feedback and requests for more training like this. We are looking forward to more sessions to come.
