‘AUANA, Luana, Makana & OUTRIGGER Hosts Delight Visitors at the Largest Hawaiian Festival in Japan
BY HITOMI SAUNDERS — OUTRIGGER was back as a major sponsor of Aloha Tokyo 2024 held May 31- June 2 at Ebisu Garden Place. The largest Hawaiian Festival in Japan, which attracted 198,000 visitors this year, showcased all things Hawai‘i — culture, music, dance, food and of course, Aloha.
This was OUTRIGGER’s 8th year as a major sponsor and we were out in full force. Aloha Ambassador Luana Maitland led the effort in sharing Hawai‘i with Japan; Beachcomber Original and TV personality Sasha had a talk show about OUTRIGGER on the main stage, another Beachcomber Original and artist, TAMO showcased the community board with kids at OUTRIGGER booth, and B Original musician, Makana entertained the crowd with music and hula and afterwards held autograph sessions at the OUTRIGGER booth to the delight of his fans.
Another highlight of the main stage was the preview show of ‘AUANA by Cirque du Soleil. It was packed with an expectant audience and their top-notch performance captivated all.
The OUTRIGGER booth showcased our Hawai‘i properties with special attention given to OUTRIGGER Reef Waikiki Beach Resort and OUTRIGGER Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel, both Japan market favorites. Our Japan Contact Center (JCC) team set up a mobile station for in-person hotel inquiries/bookings on-site and there was line to book JCC Special LTO, thanks to Keri, Mary and Luke!
We also need to thank to our family, friends and JCC staff who came along to make OUTRIGGER’s booth such a lively and popular one!
A VIP Mahalo Reception was held at Blue Note Place on the first night of the event and attended by about 200 travel and airline partners and media. We updated attendees on the OUTRIGGER Reef Waikiki Beach Resort, OUTRIGGER Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel, OHANA Waikiki East by OUTRIGGER and our new neighbor island properties. Attendees also enjoyed Makana’s performance as well as the ‘AUANA by Cirque du Soleil preview show.
