Rockin’ the Runway

Hawaiian Aroma Caffe rocked the house at their Runway Reclaimed event at Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger on November 11. The free fashion event was open to the public and highlighted sustainable fashion and the reduction of textile waste. Creative, captivating and all for a cause — a portion of sales goes to our partner Sustainable Coastlines.

Cyber Sale Includes ‘High $5’ Toward Ocean Health

We launched our annual Cyber Sale that offers a lineup of impressive savings for travelers from November 21 through December 4, 2022.

GivingTuesday, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the U.S., is a global generosity movement to change our communities and the world for good. During Cyber Sale, travelers to Outrigger’s Hawai‘i properties will have a give-back opportunity, not just on “Giving Tuesday,” – to give a “High $5” towards ocean health by donating to our partner Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii – a 501c3 non-profit organization that seeks to inspire local communities to care for their coastlines through fun beach cleanups and educational programs.

Here are a couple upcoming opportunities for you to take some active participation in our ocean health. Our partners Sustainable Coastlines and Duke’s have organized cleanups:

Intro to Hydroponics Farming

BY ASHNEEL CHAND — Grounds Manager Simione Rokacikaci and grounds attendants, Onisivoro Sukaiwalu and Dhavendra Gounder, were part of a one-day introductory workshop on Hydroponics Farming at Lautoka Campus, USP, on September 30.

Simione, who is already well-versed in hydroponic farming due to his previous work experience, will be able to provide much guidance in this area. With the added knowledge and skills acquired from the workshop, the grounds team will set up a pilot hydroponic project, conduct some trials and collect data before commercial installation to meet a certain percentage of the resort’s vegetable demands.
